🌟 Weight Management Services Update: Mounjaro 🌟

We’ve been receiving many enquiries about the availability of Mounjaro, the weight-loss drug recently approved by NHS England for eligible patients. Here’s what you need to know:

✔️ Eligibility Criteria: NHS England has set clear guidelines for who qualifies for this treatment, which all NHS prescribers (GPs and pharmacists) must follow. The criteria are based on BMI and certain comorbidities.

🔹 Eligibility:

• BMI of 40 or higher
• Four or more qualifying comorbidities (hypertension, dyslipidaemia, obstructive sleep apnoea, cardiovascular disease, and type 2 diabetes).

❌ If you do not meet these criteria, you will not be eligible for assessment in the first year of the drug’s availability.

⏳ What’s Next: Although the drug has been approved, GPs are still waiting for full details on how Mounjaro will be provided to eligible patients, including timelines and guidelines for use alongside other weight management services like diet and exercise.
